New Patients by Referral Only

We require referrals and previous records pertaining to the referral (if applicable) before scheduling. We evaluate all referrals to ensure they meet the medical requirements and scope of practice of Dr. Satterfield.

Example Conditions Evaluated and Treated in Children:

  • Strabismus, including esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia, and nerve palsies

  • Retinopathy of Prematurity (from Mission and AdventHealth Hendersonville NICUs only, outside referrals accepted on case by case basis)

  • Amblyopia (9 years old or younger)

  • Failed Vision Screenings (9 years old or younger)

  • Nasolacrimal duct obstruction

  • Persistent Chalazion/Chalazia (styes) requiring surgical drainage

  • Dermoid Cyst or other lid lesions

  • Ptosis/Droopy Lid (may require referral for surgical repair)

Conditions Evaluated and Treated in Adults:

  • Strabismus, including esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia, and nerve palsies

  • Diplopia

We are unable to provide exams and/or treatment for the following conditions/reasons:

  • Congenital or Juvenile Cataract

  • Congenital or Juvenile Glaucoma

  • Glaucoma Suspects

  • Routine/Vision Insurance Exams that may or may not require refraction/prescription glasses

  • Contact Lens Exams

  • Myopia Management
